Balfour Beatty Communities is proud of its plan for family housing at Tyndall AFB which began on February 6, 2007.  In the first five years:

281 Existing homes will be demolished
246 New homes will be constructed
279 Existing Homes will be renovated
1     Community center will be constructed
8    Tot lots and playgrounds will be installed

Project Construction Status

The Redfish Extension will have 209 new homes: 116 Junior Enlisted three and four bedrooms and 93 Company Grade three and four bedrooms.

The first portion of Phase I will be Junior Enlisted homes and are expected to be completed at the end of February 2008. Priority for the new homes will be:

  • Tenants relocated for demolition of their existing home.
  • Tenants on wait list.

Once the first two priorities are exhausted, relocation availability and policy information will be provided to the current residents. There will be stipulations for current residents that will include: lease obligation fulfillment, time remaining at Tyndall, unit condition pre-inspection and discrepancy and complaint history.

Other than Sentry Lane, the demolition schedule for Wood Manor has not been determined at this time.

New construction information including timelines for Field and Senior Grade Officer homes will be provided in Spring 2008.

Project Renovation Status

Renovations are determined on a house-by-house basis.  Exterior renovations may include: exterior cleaning, caulking, painting, addition of a covered entry porch, new roof, new gutters and downspouts, and landscaping.  Interior renovations may include: electrical upgrades, replacement of light fixtures, replacement of cabinets, replacement of interior doors and hardware and bathroom remodeling.

Renovations will occur in Wood Manor where 279 homes will receive updating.  Work is expected to begin in 2010.
